Hi, my name is Viet. I do economics research at the Dais (formerly Brookfield Institute). I graduated from the University of British Columbia and the London School of Economics, focusing on Applied Microeconomics. I research topics related to scale-ups, automation, the tech sector, and many more (including sometimes writing about the economics of Taylor Swift).
I frequently comment on economics-related topics (often cosplaying as an intro to macroeconomics lecturer) on CBC Radio, and occasionally contribute op-eds to the Globe & Mail. I also have been found in random cities across Canada talking to diverse audiences (from an empty seminar room to 500 people theatre halls) on the topics I research. I love creating communities, researching Economics, and working towards bettering lives for LGBTQ+ individuals. I also worked with Equaldex, a global database on LGBTQ+ issues (the data we collected have been used by the UN , the World Economic Forum, Vox, amongst others). Let me know if you want to chat. |
